Nottoway Neighbors Win Zoning Appeal Case

On Wednesday, November 1, The Board of Zoning Appeals ruled
against the owners of an illegal lodging house at 1620 Nottoway Ave.

During the Summer, neighbors had to suffer through loud parties,
profane language, and regular parking problems caused by too
many people living in the house. As a result, a zoning inspector
found several dead bolts on outside of bed room doors and noted
that a brother and sister were living there along with 3 unrelated
persons.

Therefore, the zoning administrator ruled that the current
use of the property is not permitted. The absentee owners, who
are the parents of the brother and sister, filed an appeal to this
decision and lost in an unanimous decision.

Several people from Bellevue attended the Hearing and spoke
in favor of upholding the finding of the inspector. It was strongly
pointed out how harmful this type of domicile can have on the
neighborhood.
