Dear Bellevue Association Neighbors:
If you are interested in reading to elementary school students,
please contact me asap. I am going to speak to the principal of
Holton Elementary School early next week to set a tentative
schedule. After Thursday's school board meeting, he said he would
welcome volunteers who would spend some time just reading to
and with some of his selected students. Please send me your:

Times of availability in one-hour increments
Tell me a little about yourself with regard to working with children.
I'll contact you before any schedule is set to make sure you know
exactly what is involved and are in agreement with the plan. If
possible,
I'll meet you at the school and introduce you to the principal, the
teacher(s)
involved, and their selected students. The teacher will provide the
reading
material and tell you what the goals/hopes are for each child.
This is important work. Reading skills are essential for an individual's
well
being in a society. Many children just need a friendly ear for practice.
RECALL that any agreement we make with the school MUST be honored.
