Larry,

I am sorry about the delay in getting back with you concerning the
landscaping on McArthur Ave. I did check to see if there were any
potential planting spaces in the City right-of-way. There really is not
enough room to create tree wells in the commercial area. However,
there are several spots on both sides of the street where trees could
be planted on private property.

On the west side of the street there are three planting spaces in the
apartment building's parking lot and a space could be opened up by
Dot's Back. There is sufficient room in all four locations for large trees.
On the east side of the street the only potential spots I saw were at
"Once Upon a Vine" - you could probably get two trees in the front of
their parking lot if spaces were cut out.

If trees were planted on private property, Urban Forestry could not pay
for the trees or infrastructure work. However, Economic Development
may have a program that could assist with improving a business area -
it is worth a call to Lynn Lancaster to find out anyway.

I hope that helps. By the way, tomorrow is my last day with the City.
Peter Girardi is filling my position until they hire a replacement. I have
copied Peter on this email to get him in the loop.

Regards,
Karl
