The regular meeting of the Bellevue
Civic Association was held on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at 6:58 P.M.
at “Once Upon a Vine”, the
President being in the chair.
The President introduced special
guests Lt. Corrigan, Chis Hilbert, Lisa Townes, Norma Murdoch-Kitt and
our host, Bob Kocher.
The Treasurer reported assets of
$2,447.21, liabilities of $1,400.00, and a new balance on hand after the
Associated Printing Press invoice is paid of $1,047.21. The report was
filed.
Lt. Corrigan gave the Bellevue crime
report. Once again crime was down in the neighborhood. There have been
incidents recently of copper pipes being stolen from vacant houses.
Nine thefts involving cars were reported. Residents were advised to
keep cars locked and personal items secured.
The President introduced Chris
Hilbert, 3rd District Councilman. Mr. Hilbert informed us that the 3rd
District may be expanding with the planned redistricting. He also gave
an update on the status of the new jail.
Jerry Devoss reporting on behalf of
the Security Patrol, reiterated the continuous need for more volunteers.
Bob Almond responding to a question
from the floor stated that BCA membership cards run from Jan. to Dec.
David Lydiard, on behalf of the BCA,
presented appreciation certificates to Bob Kocher, owner of “Once Upon a
Vine” and Robert (Bob) Redford, our community mail carrier. Both
gentlemen have made enormous contributions to the Bellevue family.
Mark your calendars. “Christmas on
MacArthur” will be held on December 10.
Judd Proctor spoke about a new book
on Lewis Ginter written by, Bellevue resident, Brian Burns. The book is
expected to offer important new insights into the life of Lewis Ginter.
The business portion of the meeting
