The regular meeting of the
Bellevue Civic Association was held on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at 7:12
P.M. at Linwood Holton Elementary School, the President being in the
chair.
The Treasurer reported assets
of $3189.67, liabilities of $1693.50, and a balance on hand, May 17 of
$1496.17. The report was filed.
Bob Almond reported that the
BCA as of May17 had a paid membership of 70.
Bob Almond, reporting on
behalf of the Traffic Committee, stated that the Committee continues to
work with the City to have curbs and gutters installed on Westbrook
Avenue. A meeting was to be scheduled with Traffic Engineer, Tom
Flynn, to discuss the need for speed humps throughout Bellevue.
Lieutenant Corrigan gave the
Bellevue crime report. There were seven less incidents this year
than last year at this time. The Bellevue community continues to
have the lowest crime rate in the City.
The President introduced guest
speaker, Christopher Hilbert. Mr. Hilbert, 3rd District
Councilman, gave the City’s redistricting report.
Jerry Devoss reporting on
behalf of the Security Patrol, reiterated the continuous need for more
volunteers.
Chris Miller and Linda Decker
were introduced and commended for a successful spring Bellevue Times.
Thanks were given to Kath
Sadler and Jan Brown for a successful Plant Swap. $79 in cash
proceeds were donated to the BCA Treasury.

given for upcoming events:

Walk report given by Paige McCleary.
• Food
Drive report given by Mike LaBelle.
• Bellevue
Yard Sale report given by Joyce Foster.
• National
Night Out 2011 report given by Chris Englehart on behalf of
the Bellevue merchants.
Mike LaBelle reported that the
May 14 Neighborhood Clean-up had a good turnout of volunteers, but the
City shorted us trucks. The volunteers did a great job with the
trucks we were given.
David Lydiard, reporting on
behalf of the Ginter Park Library Board, stated that the proposed
library renovation has been delayed from two to three years.
The president, David Lydiard,
also requested volunteers for the new Special Events Committee.
This group is to research and plan new events for our neighborhood that
will widen our draw within the community.
The President introduced the
program presented by Sgt. David Naoroz of the Richmond Police. The
SWAT demonstration included tactical equipment demonstrations and
tactics used by the Team.
