Following pizza and soft drinks, Roy Reynolds, President, called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.
Roy presented the Treasurer’s report: Since January, we have received $3,203 in ad revenue;
$5,570 in dues; and $1,174.49 in miscellaneous donations. Current balance is: $7,952.09.
Lt. Morley, Richmond Police Department, gave a crime report. Year to date Property Crime in
his sector, not in Bellevue, rose slightly from 20 to 23. Theft from motor vehicles, buildings &
purse snatching increased slightly. Auto theft went from 6 last year to just 1 this year. Violent
crime in Bellevue decreased from 3 to just 1. Lt Morley commended the neighborhood for its
diligent approach to crime prevention.
David Lisowski presented the Adopt-a-tree program and distributed applications to those who
were interested in participating. He was offering a matched deal where if you agreed to adopt
a tree, he had funds from Chris Hilbert so that your tree would only cost you $25, half the usual
fee of $50. There was discussion regarding the program and types of trees available.14 of the
matched funds slots were available at the start of the meeting, and the deadline to get information
to the city is October 1.
Rosemary Jones from the Hermitage Road Civic Association invited all BCA members to save the
date to attend an event they are holding on September 13 at 3:00. Mayoral candidate Dwight
Clinton Jones will be speaking. Bellevue residents will be receiving an invitation.
Mayoral candidate Robert Gray was introduced, and spoke briefly on his interest in the position.
Roy commended the Clean-up and those who participated. He stated that at the Fall Meeting,
teeshirts will be given to anyone who has volunteered on a neighborhood committee throughout
the year. And one “non-neighbor” from Hamilton & Grove will be recognized as well. She located
our cleanup on the internet by searching the day and found us! She enthusiastically participated
and certainly deserves a teeshirt for her efforts.
Chris, from Richs Stitches, reported that the Bellevue T-shirts were coming. BCA Committee
members will be receiving T-shirts at the November meeting.
T-shirts and caps are available for purchase. Roy reminded everyone that Bellevue was one of
the few associations with a recognizable symbol – the Arch.
Everyone was asked to remember upcoming events, including Christmas on McArthur as well as the
Grand Illumination and the two marathons that will take place.
David Lydiard reported that house prices in the area have increased 3%.
Newsletter editor and publisher read the three Fun with History questions and were prepared to
award prizes for correct answers. No one knew the answers, so prizes will be carried over to next
meeting. Residents were urged to have answers ready to win $25 gift certificates to Stir Crazy,
Nuttall’s and Northside Grille.
Raffle tickets were sold throughout the evening, totaling $81 to the Association.
At the close of the meeting, tickets were drawn, and everyone participating won something!
Approximately 30 people were in attendance.
